You feel broken, lost, and empty. It is like a piece of you is missing. You’re drowning in sorrow, regret, sadness, and shame. You’ve made choices you are not proud of, and others have hurt you.

You’ve searched for happiness by reading self-help books, following social media influencers, and repeating positive quotes over and over again. You sought fulfillment through relationships, exercise, success in your career, etc.

While you have achieved great things, the positive feelings gained have been short-lived. You are right back where you started, feeling unfilled and empty. It is a never-ending cycle you can’t seem to get out of; it feels hopeless.

I am here to tell you- there is hope.  True hope is found only in Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ, there is lasting peace, joy, forgiveness, and healing; He will fill the emptiness in your soul, and you will be forever satisfied.

“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14-15.

In this blog, I will walk you through the steps on how to receive salvation.

Free will

God has given you free will. God will never force a relationship with you, that would not be loving, and God is love. You can choose to reject the Gospel or accept it. The choice is yours.

If you have a heart that is open and ears to hear, this blog is for you.

In this blog, I outline the simple steps to accept and receive the gracious gift God has given you, the gift of salvation.

But first, the bad news.

Bad news.

We must talk about the bad news. The bad news is what makes the good news so good.

Sin entered the world the moment Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the forbidden tree. As a result, you and I were born sinners.

God is holy and righteous and cannot be in the presence of sin. Therefore, because of our sinful nature, we deserve death and total separation from God- we were born destined for Hell.

 But God.

God provided a way for you to escape death and have eternal life in heaven with Him. You are loved.

The good news.

He loved you so much that He sent His one and only Son to die for your sins. Jesus took on the punishment you and I deserved.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

There had to be justice for our sins against God.

Think about it for a moment. Each one of us longs for justice. If someone stole from you, wouldn’t you want to see justice done? Of course. Therefore, it was either Jesus dying on the cross or going to Hell. There needed to be justice for our sins against our creator.

Jesus Christ carried the weight of our sins and paid our debt at the cross.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds, we are healed.” Isaiah 53: 5.

How to Receive Salvation

Are you ready to accept Christ into your life today? If so, continue reading. I have outlined how you can receive the gift of salvation.

“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Steps on How to Receive Salvation

1. Admit you are a sinner.

We have all fallen short of the glory of God. We need to acknowledge our sins and ask for forgiveness of those sins.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:23-24.

2. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose back to life on the third day.

Trust that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. By believing with your whole heart, you will receive the gift of salvation.

“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13.

  1. Call upon the name of the Lord

Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and allow Him to be Lord over your life.

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

A Prayer to receive salvation.

Pray this prayer below to receive salvation.

Dear Lord Jesus, I confess I am a sinner. Lord forgive me of my sins against you. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that he rose from the grave on the third day. Please come into my life. I surrender my whole life to you, Jesus. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Following Jesus

Did you choose to follow Jesus today? If you did, hooray!

You cannot walk this faith journey alone. You must find a Bible-believing church to join. Engage in small groups and fellowship with other believers- seasoned believers especially. Lastly, buy a Bible, read the bible and be in prayer daily. Start with the book of John.

Your eternal destiny is forever changed. Living a Christian life is not going to be easy, but it is so worth it.

It is important to remember, though, you are not of this world; you are still in it. You will experience difficulties in this life but have the assurance of the promises of God. He offers you peace, joy, and strength in every situation of life.

There is a hope that this is not our home. Your life is minuscule compared to the eternity that awaits you.  One day we will be with our savior in perfect peace.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”Romans 8:18

Promises from God for the Christian

If you have decided to give your life to Christ, you are now a child of God, and His promises are true for you. Below, I will share a few of my favorite Bible verses, and I pray these verses will encourage you.

1. “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1.

There is forgiveness for ALL sins. And when I say all, I mean ALL. You do not have to hold on to shame, regret, and guilt any longer. Leave it all at the feet of Jesus.

2. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” Revelation 21:4

Thank you, Jesus!

3. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” Psalm 34: 18.

No matter what you are going through on this Earth, know God is with you always, comforting you, strengthening you, and loving you.
